Vibratory Feeders & Vibro Pipes

Vibro-motor driven feeders and closed-tube vibratory systems for controlled material flow from bunkers, silos and storage equipment to process lines. Dust emission control, precise dosing.

TL;DR

TMD GRUP vibratory feeders and vibro pipe systems are equipment driven by vibro motors to provide controlled material flow from bunkers and silos and to minimise dust emissions. Vibration uses both transport and gravity forces — delivering energy-efficient feeding and dosing.

Bespoke engineering. Capacity, sizing and material selection are engineered for each project — TMD GRUP determines all parameters together with you during the quotation process.

Key Highlights

  • Vibratory feeders for controlled feeding from bunkers, silos and storage equipment to the process.
  • Closed tubular type (Vibro Pipe) option where dust release must be completely prevented.
  • Vibro motor drive — low energy consumption, dosing capability via precise frequency control.
  • Ideal for transporting many small objects (granules, grains, powder) continuously and with control.
  • Vibration uses both transport force and gravity — energy-efficient and quiet operation.

Working Principle — Flow Control via Vibration

Vibratory feeders operate via the vibration generated by vibro motor(s) attached to a carrying tray or pipe. Vibration reduces internal friction between the conveyed material's particles and allows the material to take small gravity-assisted steps — by which the material moves in a controlled way along the tray or inside the pipe from the feed point to the discharge.

By adjusting the vibro motor's frequency, the feed rate can be controlled with high precision. This characteristic makes vibratory feeders ideal in dosing applications and continuous production lines.

Vibratory Feeder and Vibro Pipe — Two Configurations

TMD GRUP manufactures vibratory systems in two main configurations:

• Vibratory Feeder (open or semi-open tray): used at bunker and silo outlets to provide controlled feeding to the process. Material moves visibly along the tray. Generally suitable for applications where dust emissions are not critical.

• Vibro Pipe (closed tubular type): a system in which material is conveyed inside an enclosed pipe via the vibration of vibro motors. Preferred where dust release is not desired or must be minimised — ideal for powdered products such as cement, gypsum, lime, and food.

Which configuration is selected is determined at the TMD GRUP engineering office based on material characteristics and process requirements.

Application Areas — At Bunker and Silo Outlets

Vibratory feeders and vibro pipe systems are typically used at the following points:

• Cement, lime and gypsum plants — dosing feed at silo outlets.

• Mining and aggregate plants — controlled feed from bunker outlets to conveyors or screens.

• Grain and flour mills — feeding from silo outlets to milling units.

• Food sector — hygienic dosing lines with stainless-steel housings.

• Recycling facilities — balanced feeding to classification lines.

In each application, the number of vibro motors, tray/pipe dimensions and frequency band are bespoke-sized for the project.

Dust-Control Advantage of the Vibro Pipe

When conveying powdered products, the dust emissions caused by open-tray feeders can pose both environmental and occupational safety issues. The Vibro Pipe solves this fundamentally: vibration transmitted by vibro motors moves material inside the enclosed pipe, with no contact with the external environment.

When conveying cement, gypsum, lime, flour, chemical dust and similar materials, the Vibro Pipe both protects worker health and ensures emission values that comply with environmental regulations. In high-hygiene food lines, stainless-steel Vibro Pipe is also preferred.

Capacity Control and Dosing

By adjusting the vibro motor's frequency, the capacity of vibratory feeders can be controlled over a wide range. With frequency inverters or PLC control panels, the feed rate can be tuned online; this is a critical feature for precise dosing, weigh-belt feeding and adaptation to variable process demands.

TMD GRUP offers control options integrated with the customer's automation infrastructure: manual (via inverter), via PLC signal, or closed-loop control with load-cell feedback.

Customisation — Size, Material, Number of Drives

TMD GRUP designs vibratory feeders bespoke per project. The following parameters are determined according to the customer's process requirements:

  • Tray or pipe size — based on conveyed material density and target capacity.
  • Housing material — carbon steel (general), stainless (food/chemistry), abrasion-resistant lining (aggressive material).
  • Number and power of vibro motors — based on capacity and vibration profile requirements.
  • Frequency control infrastructure — manual, frequency inverter or PLC integration.
  • Dust emission control — open tray + local dust extraction or closed tubular type.

Project Process

Vibratory feeder / Vibro Pipe projects at TMD GRUP follow these steps: material analysis (particle size, density, flow behaviour, dust-release risk) → configuration selection (open tray / closed tube, number of vibro motors) → engineering design and frequency calculation → manufacturing at our Başkent OSB facility → in-house testing → site installation and frequency calibration → commissioning, automation integration, operator training.

Frequently Asked Questions

When are vibratory feeders applied in closed-tube form?

Closed-tube vibratory feeders (Vibro Pipes) are used where dust release of the conveyed product must be eliminated or minimised in the enclosed environment moved by vibration from vibro motors. They are preferred for powdered materials such as cement, gypsum and lime, and in food industry applications.

How is capacity controlled in vibratory feeders?

By adjusting the vibro motor's frequency, the capacity of vibratory feeders can be controlled over a wide range.
