Başkent OSB — Our Integrated Production Site

TMD GRUP's manufacturing facility is located in Başkent Organized Industrial Zone in Ankara. Başkent OSB is one of Türkiye's leading organised industrial zones; with modern infrastructure, transport convenience (airport, rail and road connections) and reliable energy-water infrastructure, it provides the foundation for an integrated industrial complex.

Our facility's integrated structure houses the engineering office, CNC manufacturing workshop and test areas in a single complex. This physical proximity enables daily interaction between design and production teams — errors are caught early, changes are applied quickly, and prototyping is easily done.

CNC Plasma and Oxygen Cutting — 3000 × 12000 mm

The main cutting machine in our facility is a CNC plasma and oxygen cutting system with a 3000 mm × 12000 mm bed. This is a large bed size rarely found in the sector; the ability to process steel plates up to 12 metres long in a single setup facilitates the production of large-scale components such as conveyor housings, silo bodies and large steel construction parts.

CNC control brings cutting accuracy to micron level; complex geometries are programmed and consistency is achieved in serial production. Plasma cutting is fast and clean for thin and medium-thickness steel; oxygen cutting is preferred for thick steel (above 50 mm).

Durmazlar Press Brake — 4 m / 12 mm

Bending steel plates into shape (sheet metal bending) is one of the basic steps of industrial equipment production. The TMD GRUP manufacturing workshop uses a 4-metre mouth-width / 12-mm thickness-capacity press brake from Durmazlar, Türkiye's leading machine manufacturer.

With this press, large steel plates are bent at precise angles for U-trough conveyor housings, silo panel curves, hopper geometries and special design parts. Thanks to programmable control, hundreds of copies of the same part can be produced identically.

100-Ton Hydraulic Press and Other Forming Equipment

The 100-ton capacity hydraulic press is used for various forming and pre-assembly pressing operations. Pipe forming, part straightening, press-assembly and special form-giving operations are done on this machine.

Other workshop equipment:

• Ø350 mm band saw — cutting of pipes, profiles and large rods.

• Column drill — high-precision drilling operations.

• Various lathes and milling machines — small-scale mechanical part manufacturing.

These equipment sets together enable a wide range of components to be produced in a single facility.

Welding Stations — MIG / TIG / SAW

Welding is the heart of steel construction manufacturing. Three main welding methods are used in the TMD GRUP workshop:

• MIG (Metal Inert Gas) welding — a fast and efficient method for most structural steel joining.

• TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding — for stainless steel and precision joining.

• SAW (Submerged Arc Welding) — for thick steel and long, continuous weld lines.

Our welding operators are WPS (Welding Procedure Specification) and WPQR (Welding Procedure Qualification Record) certified — meaning both the welding procedures used and the operators' capabilities are documented. This is a requirement of EN 1090 EXC3 certification.

NDT Inspection — Verification of Weld Quality

Weld quality cannot be assessed by eye — internal cracks, porosity or lack of penetration are not visible from the surface. For this reason TMD GRUP verifies weld quality with NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) infrastructure:

• UT (Ultrasonic Test) — detection of internal defects via sound waves, ideal for thick welds.

• MT (Magnetic Particle Test) — detection of near-surface cracks via magnetic particles.

• PT (Penetrant Test) — revealing surface cracks via coloured liquid.

100% NDT inspection of critical joins is a requirement of our EN 1090 EXC3 certification. This ensures the user can be confident that every structural join manufactured by TMD GRUP is safe.

Powder-Coating Line — Final Surface Finish

Protecting industrial equipment against corrosion and the aesthetic final appearance is the last production step. The TMD GRUP facility has a fully equipped powder-coating preparation and electrostatic application line:

• Surface preparation: sandblasting or chemical cleaning.

• Phosphating — chemical pre-treatment that improves paint adhesion to metal.

• Electrostatic powder-coating application — powder pigment is drawn to the part by electric charge.

• Polymerisation in the curing oven — powder coating hardens at high temperature.

The result is a durable, evenly thick and aesthetic coating. The colour the customer wants is applied via RAL code; for corrosive environments, special chemically resistant paints are preferred.

Factory Visit and Production Transparency

Our customers can visit our manufacturing facility in Başkent OSB by appointment. During the factory tour:

• You can walk through the engineering office and observe the design process.

• You can see production live in the CNC cutting, welding and assembly workshops.

• You can inspect the parts of your own project during manufacturing (FAT — Factory Acceptance Test).

• You can directly witness the quality control and NDT inspection processes.
