Mining Industry Solutions

TMD equipment solutions for ore handling, sieving, classification and stockpiling. Abrasion-resistant belt conveyor, vibratory sieve, tripper conveyor, rotary feeder.

TL;DR

TMD GRUP mining sector solutions cover every stage of ore handling, classification, stockpiling and dust control. HB450 abrasion-resistant belt conveyors, bucket elevators, vibratory screens, and our tripper conveyors — which represent firsts in Türkiye — meet the needs of the sector under the harsh conditions of mining sites (high abrasiveness, variable load, open spaces, long distances).

Bespoke engineering. Capacity, sizing and material selection are engineered for each project — TMD GRUP determines all parameters together with you during the quotation process.

Key Highlights

  • HB450 abrasion-resistant steel housings — for highly abrasive ore.
  • Long-distance and inclined belt conveyor lines — bespoke designs for site geometry.
  • Multi-deck screening systems — particle-size classification after crushing.
  • Tripper conveyor — multi-stockpile distribution from a single belt; firsts in Türkiye are TMD-manufactured.
  • Manufacturing built for open-site conditions — corrosion protection, outdoor-rated electrical protection class.
  • Installation in remote site conditions — set-up with certified crews in distant regions.

The Harsh Conditions of a Mining Site

Mining facilities are among the most challenging working environments in industry. The extracted ore is typically extremely abrasive; particle size is variable; ambient temperature can rise above 40°C in summer and fall below -20°C in winter; dust, mud, water and vibration are always present. In addition, mining is often conducted in remote regions — service and spare-parts access can be hours away from the city.

Equipment installed under these conditions must have two basic qualities: durability (long life, low maintenance) and serviceability (fast repair, easy spare-parts supply). TMD GRUP designs and manufactures mining equipment with these two principles in focus.

Belt Conveyors — Long-Distance Ore Handling

In mining sites, the main handling backbone is the belt conveyor. TMD-BC series conveyors carry every line — from the site to the crusher, from the crusher to the screen, from the screen to the stockpile hall, from the stockpile to the milling facility, and from the mill to the ore-enrichment/dispatch point. Most mining lines are hundreds of metres long; on some sites a line reaches several kilometres.

Special design is required at these lengths and with abrasive material such as ore:

• HB450 abrasion-resistant steel housings — to protect belt rollers and the housing.

• Wide belt widths (1200-1800 mm) — for high-capacity requirements.

• Inclined route design — adapted to site topography.

• Open-area covered design — dust control and weather resistance.

• Strong drive group — stable operation under variable load.

Screening Systems — Particle-Size Classification

Ore coming out of the crusher is not a single size — it is a mix of different particle sizes. One of the most important process steps in mining is separating crushed ore by particle size. This is done with TMD GRUP vibratory screening systems.

As stated in our catalogue, screens are equipment used in the mining sector for size-based classification. By selecting appropriate openings for the target sieved sizes, the number of classification types is determined; in this way products are classified and stacked separately as undersize and oversize.

Multi-deck screen design allows separation into three to five different size groups in a single machine. TMD GRUP screens are bespoke-sized according to the customer's ore characteristics and the desired final size distribution.

Tripper Conveyor — Multi-Stockpile System

An important feature of mining is stockpiling ore of different qualities or sizes in separate piles — this allows correct blending in later process steps. Setting up a separate belt for each pile is both costly and wasteful of space. TMD GRUP's tripper conveyor solution enables multi-stockpiling from a single belt:

According to our catalogue: the tripper conveyor — which allows products in mining facilities to be distributed for stockpiling or to be discharged separately at different desired points — saves time and energy. Tripper conveyors designed and manufactured by TMD GRUP represent firsts in Türkiye — important evidence of our engineering leadership in the sector.

Tripper conveyors are particularly widely used at aggregate, coal and ore stockpiles.

Vertical Handling and Silo Management — Bucket Elevator and Rotary Feeder

In ore-enrichment plants, vertical handling is frequently required: mill feeding, flotation-cell feeding, concentrate silo loading. TMD GRUP bucket elevators are used in these applications with HB450 buckets and reinforced chain configuration.

Rotary feeders come into play for flow control and airlock at silo outlets. Especially in silos integrated with pneumatic conveying systems — for example concentrate ore or coal-dust lines — the line cannot operate without rotary feeders. For wet or humid ore, TMD GRUP's self-cleaning (Self-Clean) rotary feeder variant is preferred.

Site Conditions — Manufacturing and Service Adaptation

TMD GRUP mining sector equipment includes site-specific adaptations:

  • Cold climate — low-temperature-resistant oil, heated cabinets, anti-freezing measures.
  • Open site — IP65 protection, stainless bolts, corrosion-resistant paint system.
  • Remote region — modular design for ease of maintenance, critical spare-parts kit delivered alongside.
  • Explosion risk (coal mining) — ATEX-compliant motors and electrical equipment.
  • Dust control — hermetic transfer hoods and site-specific bag-filter design.

Turnkey Mining Facility Projects

TMD GRUP's mining scope is not just equipment; it covers the entire mechanical infrastructure of ore-preparation facilities. Site survey, material analysis, flow simulation, equipment selection, steel construction, manufacturing, site installation, automation, commissioning and long-term technical service — all stages are managed from a single source.

Especially at facilities in harsh site conditions, a single-source service model significantly reduces the customer's project-management burden. When required, TMD GRUP also deploys a long-term on-site technical support team.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of solutions does TMD GRUP produce for mining facilities?

We provide abrasion-resistant (HB450 / Hardox housing) belt conveyors and bucket elevators for ore handling; vibratory sieve systems for particle size classification; tripper conveyors for multi-stockpile distribution; rotary feeders for airlock at silo outlets. We engineer bespoke designs based on site conditions and ore characteristics.

Why is the tripper conveyor preferred at mining sites?

In mining, stockpiling ore of different qualities or sizes in separate piles is important — this allows correct blending in later process steps. Setting up a separate belt for each pile is both costly and a waste of space. TMD GRUP's tripper conveyor solution enables multi-stockpiling from a single belt: a mobile discharge head travelling along the main belt drops material at the desired point. TMD GRUP carried out the firsts in tripper conveyor design and manufacture in Türkiye.

How is service provided at remote mining sites?

Mining is often conducted in remote regions — possibly hours from the city. TMD GRUP applies the following adaptations to these conditions: modular equipment design (fast on-site repair), delivery of critical spare-parts kit alongside the equipment, IoT remote monitoring infrastructure (early detection of failure symptoms), 7/24 phone and remote support line, dispatch of a field engineer within 24 hours per contract, flexible SLA models (silver/gold tiers). When required, a long-term on-site technical support team is also deployed.
